THE CALLING, MISSION OR VOCATION OF THE CHURCH

What is the Mission of the ekklesia Church?

Synonyms of the word mission are calling, lifework and vocation.

Adam was called to dress it and keep it, Noah was called to build an ark, Joseph was called to prepare a safe haven for his brothers, Moses was called to lead the people out of bondage, the Levites were called to be the first born and go keep the gates open and prophets and kings were called to do the bidding of of the LORD.

What is the Mission of the ekklesia Church?

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19

Who are we supposed to teach?

The word nation in the above quote is ethnos which is the word that is normally translated 'Gentiles'. It is clear that Jesus wanted us to teach all nations. His message is for everyone. This was not a new idea.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Genesis 22:18

The same was true of Israel that it was to set an example to all the world.

The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. Deuteronomy 28:12

Israel was to teach all nations how to live together as nations.

Unfortunately they were always straying from their mission.

      What were they to teach?

Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:7, 12

The same apostacy plagues mankind today as men again return to error.

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog [is] turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:22

What is it that the ekklesia should be teaching?

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Matthew 3:1, 3

John was preparing people for the Kingdom of Heaven which was at hand and this is still the Job of the ekklesia Church.

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 4:17

      Jesus preached this.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 10:7

And he told others to preach that the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand.

And then the King appointed the administrators of that kingdom.

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; Luke 22:29

This is the Gospel, the good news.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matthew 9:35

Do not be deceived, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand as it was then is now and shall ever be. There are those who would bar the way and tell you that you must wait but that is not what Jesus said.

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mark 1:15

Jesus did not change what was preached from the beginning but stated it most clearly.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:19

The scribes and pharisees of today are not leading people into the ways of the LORD and his kingdom but away, perpetrating a great deception.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:20

It is the mission and calling of the ekklesia Church to expose the lie by the light of the truth in all nations and all lands bearing witness to the kingdom of Mankind established before the foundation of the world.

Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,2 Timothy 1:9

The first task of The ekklesia Church is to measure:
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. Revelation 11:1
